WHO WE ARE
BRAC is an international development organisation and by most measures the world’s largest, a global leader in delivering programmes that benefit the most vulnerable communities. Founded in Bangladesh in 1972, BRAC is taking proven anti-poverty solutions to countries in Africa and Asia.
WHAT WE DO
BRAC invests in communities to empower and create lasting change, believing that the poor are crucial actors and change makers in development, not passive recipients of aid.
In order for the poor to come out of poverty, they must have the tools to fight it across all fronts. We have developed services in human rights and social empowerment, education and health, economic empowerment and enterprise development, livelihood training, environmental sustainability and disaster preparedness. Our interventions achieve large scale changes through economic and social programs that enable men and women to realise their potential.
WHY WE DO IT
We believe that poverty is a system and its underlying causes are manifold and interlinked. We want a world free from all forms of exploitation and discrimination where everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential. Our mission is to empower people and communities in situations of poverty, illiteracy, disease and social injustice.
